As if waiting in line at the DMV isn’t bad enough, drivers in VA will have the pleasure of getting $5 tacked onto their fees. The state could reap in an estimated $9.1 million, but it isn’t about the money. The bill’s sponsor, Senator Ryan McDougle, believes that the toll will help reduce congestion in the state’s DMV offices by encouraging them to take care of biz by mail, telephone or another electronic medium.

Ohh this is bull! Its bad enough to pay for whatever you need from the DMV.. now they are adding 5 more bucks..
why not charge another $3.68 a gallon for gas too!
I think this year also the cost of personalized registration plates in Virginia, has risen from $10 to $59.
The government is literally raking in the cash, in the Motorists most feared state of America.
“Senator Ryan McDougle, believes that the toll will help reduce congestion in the state’s DMV offices by encouraging them to take care of biz by mail, telephone or another electronic medium.”
that is absolute BS.
Wow… they charge us enough as it is.. this is sad
This is foolish! It would only work if people were going to the DMV to stand in line for fun, since thats more or less never going to happen, everyone there has legitimate business to be there, and thus, will continue to go there,if these people were able to complete their DMV-based-quests online/by phone, im sure they already would be!
That is ridiculous. The reason people are there are mostly due to state regulations. So the state will have them go to the DMV for any number of required items/documentations that need to be updated or renewed etc. On top of forcing the people to take time out of their lives to go to the DMV, the state is going to charge them $5 to go there and wait in line. This is equivalent to if I were attending a required course for my major, and the school decides to tack on an extra $5 for me to attend that class. AWESOME.
