One time I had a pellet gun pistol sitting on the back seat. I got pulled over for speeding, but stuck my hands out the window as the cop approached and said “whatever you do – don’t freak out about the gun on my back seat!” He drew his gun, took the pellet gun, ran a cereal number check then brought it back and told me I was lucky it was in plain sight because it could be considered a concealed weapon. The speeding issue was forgotten as the potential greater issue was brought up.
