Leno would probably make the show slightly decent, but regardless it won’t be as good as listening to Clarkson make references to the Nazis and May gloat about being faster than Schumacher
I think Leno and Jerry would be great hosts, both are very knowledgeable and die hard car guys. Although Clarkson is funny at times he comes off as being ignorant and lacks journalistic creditability.
JohnAnthony is right, it wont be as good, but hay its something new for Americans to watch.

Yea, have to disagree with seinfeld. even nick cage would be better considering he has owned 2 enzos, has a love affair with cars, as well as owning an extensive collection of other cars… though i think it needs something to lighten the mood and make fun of cars. all i can say is they better review european cars like they should and not just be like “well, the new corvette zr1 will own anything it goes up against”
I definitely hope they review mostly european cars like Clarkson and friends do. I love top gear and if it weren’t for them, I would still like American cars. I don’t think anyone can live up to what Jeremy, Richard and James have done for quite a while now.
America is going to ruin Top Gear.

I’m sure there is a (relatively unknown to the masses) auto writer out there who could do a great job. After all, who had heard of Hammond and May before Top Gear?
It’ll be hard to live up the UK Top Gear, with it’s UK sense of humour, but I think Leno might be a good Clarkson, if you see what I mean. He’s mad about cars, knows his stuff and is funny. He even writes a motoring column in the Sunday Times sometimes, like Clarkson.
What makes Top Gear work is the huge ego of Clarkson as the “leader”. Leno is that same ego. But having another ego in Seinfeld is not necessarily a good thing.
It’ll be interesting to watch.

I think it’d be fantastic having Jerry Seinfeld as a host. He’s a comedic genious and to get that James May feeling they should get Larry David too. Unfortunately this’ll never happen and the Jay Leno quip was just to get some attention for the article. The final show will feature neither Leno, nor Seinfeld as the producers will go for some twit like Seacrest so that once again car enthusiasts will end up disapponted but females 14 to 25 years old will be overjoyed. So sad.
