Delaware Can Seize Cars For Excessive Toll Violations

If you’ve got over $1000 in toll violations in the state of Delaware, the police now have the authority to seize your car on the spot. Granted, anyone who has over $1000 worth of toll violations needs to take responsibilty for their actions and either pay up or contest it, but taking one’s car away before they pay the fines or contest the tickets is a bit much. This article in theNewspaper.com also cites studies that say automated toll road systems falsely accuse thousands of people each year of violations.

with teh automated Toll machines I can easily see that happening, especially when they’re read overhead and there’s no signal. I’ve had the battery on my EZPass die on me without knowing a couple of times and you don’t know until the tickets start coming in which could be a week later. Also just had the system fail a couple of times where it wasn’t my ezpass and got ticketed. Luckily I don;t commute by car every day and once contested it was all atraightened out, but I could easily see this happening
