At 12:41 PM today, Alex, Liz Moses of the "80-in-40" campaign and Gumball 2007 veteran Andrea Zurek set off from the Standard Hotel on the Fabulous Sunset Strip in 144B. Their destination? The World Class Driving event in French Lick, Indiana, home of Larry Bird and former location of the Pluto Water bottling plant. Celtics, laxatives and the Polizei? Oh my!
Here’s Edmunds’ take on the WCD experience, and here’s Motor Trend’s. Ours, of course, will follow shortly. Only 2030 miles to go as of 14:07 PDT!
Alex Roy will be at the Larz Anderson Museum this Sunday, Aug. 3rd, for "Tutto Italiano," the largest gathering of Italian cars in the Northeast. He’ll give a brief talk at 1pm and will also be signing copies of "The Driver."
Alex Roy and Polizei 144B will be at Prestige BMW’s M Car Event on Wednesday, June 18th, to sign books and to check out a gathering of local and regional M cars. He’ll be there from 5 - 8pm. See you there!
Alex, 144B and the rest of Team Polizei will be here from the 21st to the 30th at the NY International Auto Show at the Javits Center, 655 West 34th St.. Get your book signed, get a poster, watch some video clips and drool over 144B.
-for the next few days, as Team Polizei HQ is moving - starting today - to the South Concourse of the Javitz Center for the 2008 New York International Auto Show. Public days start on Friday, but we’re setting up ASAP for Wednesday and Thursday’s press days, so if you’re coming down at any point, we’ll be waiting for you next to the blue BMW M5. Yes, that’ll be 144B. Any phone, e-mail or community messages are unlikely to be answered quickly until the show ends on the 30th, so please be patient, or come see us in person. Details to follow…
Sorry for the late notice, but Team Polizei’s new allies at VW/Audi/Porsche tuners AWE were kind enough to secure us a spot at the official Waterfest organizer’s booth today, Sunday the 22nd, which means the Polizei M5 will be making its first public appearance since the 2007Gumball 3000.
FastLaneDaily is sending a camera crew down to follow us as we walk the Exhibition Area. As a former AudiA4 and S4 owner, this is an event after my heart.
I’ve been getting some comments and a lot of e-mails asking for a full technical break down of what the hell all the gear is in Wallpaper of the Day#5. Ever since I pulled down my (somewhat dated) Polizei M5 Spec page last week, I’ve been getting an increasing number of such questions.
So…I promise that as soon as I get beck from Waterfest tomorrow, I’ll work double-quick on getting the all-new and updated spec page complete!
There will be some things I’ve got to keep secret until release of The Driver in October. Once you’ve read it, you’ll understand why.
Last week I took the Polizei M5 on its first drive since its return from the 2007Gumball. Still fully liveried and covered in Albaniandirt and mud, nothing seemed like a better idea than to visit Team Polizei friend and ally Mr. D. Of course, we had a secret mission that had to be carried out at the same time. (Many pics and more after the jump)
