Team Polizei’s Web Reorganization Begins…

So here’s the deal. For the last five years Team Polizei’s web presence - not including social networking pages - has been comprised of this blog (gumball144.com), Team Polizei’s portal and the Polizei 144 clothing store. Not any more.

As of this weekend, this is going to change. Why? Firstly, since our gumball144.com blog is our most popular site, we want to move away from being identified off the cuff as a representative or employee of the Gumball, which we never were, and are not. In the next 24 hours the gumball144.com URL will be re-directed to our new blog, featuring a new and faster server, more content, improved search and commenting, and all archives dating back to our humble beginnings 5+ years ago.

Behold our new blog: www.teampolizeihq.com

In-Car View Re-Defined

Remember when you pushed your Matchbox cars around as kid? Did you imagine yourself in the car? You know you did. Now a company called, Fat Shark, can put you about as close as you can get. Their first-person view camera mounts on the car and comes with VR-style goggles that transmits what the camera sees. The camera also tilts and pans in time with the movement of your head. This system can also be placed on radio-controlled airplanes. Think Predator drone technology for the masses.

Team Polizei in Forza Motorsport!

It’s not our E39 M5, but it is eine macht kool Polizei-liveried E36 BMW M3 - as close one can get in Forza Motorsport 2 - lovingly created by Team Polizei ally & friend Schen Photography, who was kind enough to share this video. Schen’s never-to-be-forgotten tribute will now stand alongside those of Team Polizei’s heroic allies gumball113ooo & 13radz.

@Schen: We have much to discuss. I am extending you a personal invitation to Team Polizei HQ. E-mail me your number ASAP.

More BIG News From Undead Top Gear USA?

Big news looms - maybe - regarding Top Gear USA’s future, according to our anonymous, disparate and usually credible sources.

What could it be? Here’s my list, in descending order…

Is NBC’s Top Gear Really Dead?

A recent posting on Autoblog sent the rumor mill into overdrive with the announcement that NBC’s version of Top Gear, tentatively known as "Gear," was going to be cancelled because it wasn’t listed on NBC’s Fall lineup. Their source was a post in the blog, Dark Horizons, which states that the "pilot(s) didn’t make the final cut and won’t be seen."

However-

2 Directors. 1 Speed Racer.

No one listened.
"Two Wachowski, one script," I wrote on December 7th.
"Madness? THIS! IS! SPEED RACER!" I wrote on December 9th.

And now Speed Racer is finaaaaally here, and my scatalogical references were clearly faaaar, faaaaar too merciful. Madre de Dios, this looks worse my foulest, porcelain-bowl filling predictions. If you think you can stomach the first seven minutes, here they are…or just take my word for it….

Alex and Polizei BMW M5 144B will be at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum on Friday, May 9th, to read excerpts from "The Driver" and show never-seen-before in-car footage of The Battle of Rome, arguably the most compelling chapter of the book. (Really? - Alex)

Space is limited, and you must RSVP @ 617-522-6547 x19 or via e-mail. Once you have tickets and sign-up to our Facebook "The Driver" Group and confirm you’re coming @ Team Polizei’s Larz Anderson Event Page.

PS. Anyone want to join Alex Roy for go-karting Saturday afternoon at F1 Boston?

Farago Was Too Nice This Time (Updated)

Team Polizei knows much about imitiation being the sincerest form of flattery, but at least we haven’t had to deal with this level of uninspired rip-offs. Given Farago’s general demeanor, I’m stunned he addressed the issue so nicely.

The BMW We’ve Been Waiting For.

Above? The BMW M1 Hommage. I say yes. YES!  Holy S***!  Design is supposed to elicit an emotional response.  Read (and see) more at Autoblog. If you aren’t familiar with the awesome (and undersung) original BMW M1…well…

Less Bang For Your Buck

The average price for a gallon of gas hit $3.50 on Monday, which is nothing compared to what they’re paying in Norway. Saudi Arabia, which once said they could pump as much oil as the world demanded, has now decided to put a cap on its production in order to save it for future generations. Don’t expect the price to go down anytime soon, if ever. Anyone who doesn’t believe in Peak Oil, like this guy, must really be living in a state of deep delusion. The price of oil effects just about everything, hence, food price riots like the ones in Haiti recently. All, however, is not doom and gloom as optimists, like futurist, Ray Kurzweil, and others, think technology will save us from collapse. Question to you: How has the price of gas/oil effected you and will it affect your next vehicle purchase?
