Team Polizei’s Web Reorganization Begins…

So here’s the deal. For the last five years Team Polizei’s web presence - not including social networking pages - has been comprised of this blog (gumball144.com), Team Polizei’s portal and the Polizei 144 clothing store. Not any more.

As of this weekend, this is going to change. Why? Firstly, since our gumball144.com blog is our most popular site, we want to move away from being identified off the cuff as a representative or employee of the Gumball, which we never were, and are not. In the next 24 hours the gumball144.com URL will be re-directed to our new blog, featuring a new and faster server, more content, improved search and commenting, and all archives dating back to our humble beginnings 5+ years ago.

Behold our new blog: www.teampolizeihq.com

Alex Roy @ World Class Driving This Weekend…

At 12:41 PM today, Alex, Liz Moses of the "80-in-40" campaign and Gumball 2007 veteran Andrea Zurek set off from the Standard Hotel on the Fabulous Sunset Strip in 144B. Their destination? The World Class Driving event in French Lick, Indiana, home of Larry Bird and former location of the Pluto Water bottling plant. Celtics, laxatives and the Polizei? Oh my!

Here’s Edmunds’ take on the WCD experience, and here’s Motor Trend’s. Ours, of course, will follow shortly. Only 2030 miles to go as of 14:07 PDT!

VIDEO: Alex Roy @ Google - The Technology, Business Model & Secrets Behind A 21st Century Cannonball Run

Want to break the 31:04 cross country record? You’ll need an hour to watch this - my recent talk @ Google’s New York HQ, where for the first time in public I discuss and display Team Polizei’s heretofore totally secret 2-year plan for assaulting the 1983 32 hour 7 minute record. If you’ve been waiting to see our Herculean Google Earth map analysis of speed traps and the electronic countermeasure suite described in "The Driver", you might even love this as much as my new friends at the Food & Beverage Institute down in Quantico, Virginia…where I gave a private talk about details that still haven’t seen the light of day. (Never heard of the Institute? HINT: They love cars. And tech.)

Watch my FULL ONE HOUR Google talk AND check out the most shocking Polizei M5 sighting of all time…after the jump:

VIDEO: Gumball 3000 Drivers Are…Then Aren’t Apparent Cause of I-5 Accident?

BREAKING NEWS: A traffic accident occured today at approximately 1305HR PST on I-5 South, and the initial SigAlert report stated that "…sev Lamborghinis Caused this Traffic Collision…"

Watch the video and decide for yourself. The witnesses got the cars wrong, and the SUV/trailer appears to have lost control before the Gumballers passed. My gut tells me that the 2008 Gumball 3000 cars nearby probably weren’t the cause of the jack-knifed SUV/trailer accident seen in the right lane above.

See the accident location in Google Maps and the original SigAlert screenshot after the jump:

CHP vs. Gumball 3000: “We’re Very Well Aware Of It.”

"We’re very well aware of it and we’ll be monitoring what’s going on."

That’s what one California Highway Patrol spokesperson told the LA Times…and yet Day 1 of the 2008 Gumball 3000 - which ran from San Francisco to Buttonwillow Raceway Park to Hollywood, CA - ended last night with what appears to be one of the slowest, lowest-ticketed grids in Gumball 3000 (if not modern "rally") history…at least according to our friends and allies actually on it.

NY Auto Show Overheard, Or How Team Polizei Learned to Stop Worrying And Love The Dusty Viper

The New York International Auto Show brings together automotive enthusiasts of every stripe and level of interest. Hardy souls journeyed from as far afield as Austria, Sweden and Virginia to check out Polizei Interceptor 144B and chat about our jovial, demented brand of law enforcement. Sadly, inevitably, some folks were either ill-informed about the goings-on in the automotive world or — at the extreme end of things — complete and utter dunderheaded Ostrogoths when it came to cars, the law and life and how to live it. Of Visigoth persuasion ourselves — especially Mme. Lau — we enjoyed a few hearty chuckles at their expense. Come along, won’t you, and peruse our list of sublime, stupid, and outright head-scratch-frenzy-inducing quotes from the show after the jump.
