Polizei friend, ally and occasional contributor Jordan Vega took some time out from his MBA studies to watch the new Knight Rider…er…in hopes of re-living his mispent youth. Click below to read his review of the first episode.
Watch the video and decide for yourself. The witnesses got the cars wrong, and the SUV/trailer appears to have lost control before the Gumballers passed. My gut tells me that the 2008 Gumball 3000 cars nearby probably weren’t the cause of the jack-knifed SUV/trailer accident seen in the right lane above.
Woody also ripped out the the stock engine and stuffed a twin-turbo, small-block V8 into the engine bay. Mad props to Woody, but unless he’s a skilled chassis engineer, that much power in an antiquated chassis sounds like a recipe for disaster.
…But it’s not clear whether or not he was driving or a passenger when the F430 test-mule/prototype went off the Nurburgring track and into a guardrail at 155mph on the Schwedenkreuz corner. Schumacher reportedly called his publicist to say "We have crashed the car but are going to continue with another one," leaving out the identity of the driver. The real question is: Will it make a difference who the hosts are when it’s an NBC product? Meaning, will NBC water it down and refrain from negative reviews out of fear of angering its advertisers? Being that car commercials, along with alcohol and pharmaceuticals, are the 3 biggest ad revenue generators for television, it’s doubtful.
And nowSpeed Racer is finaaaaally here, and my scatalogical references were clearly faaaar, faaaaartoomerciful. Madre de Dios, this looks worse my foulest, porcelain-bowl filling predictions. If you think you can stomach the first seven minutes, here they are…or just take my word for it….
A baby monitoring device was found under the couch of Porsche boss, Wendelin Wiedeking’s, hotel room. It’s believed that the spies, believed to be either VW or the State of Lower Saxony, the two largest shareholders of VW, were trying to get info on Porsche’s plans regarding their pending controling acquisition of VW. The hotel records rule out the possibility that a family had stayed in the room prior to Wiedeking’s stay. Porsche also said that other company officials have been spied upon, including works council head, Uwe Hueck.
