Team Polizei to Bring Order to Greenwich Concours d’Elegance - Saturday, June 7th!

Called forth to the Nutmeg State by an error of prescience and/or gross misjudgment, Team Polizei will be out in force at tomorrow’s Greenwich Concours d’Elegance. In conjunction with Alex’s selection as the marquee speaker at Saturday’s dinner, we’ll be displaying Polizei Interceptor 144B and the super-secret BMW-engineered Gepäck 144 (courtesy of Manhattan MotorCars) Come wish us a hearty "Guten Tag!" (And by all means, bring Löwensenf!) Plenty of rare and vintage iron from all eras of motoring will be showcased at the event, which promises to be a cracking good time. As proceeds benefit Americares, we encourage you to visit early and often.

Polizei’s Master Piloten Michael Ross Rides Against Breast Cancer

Team Polizei’s Michael Ross recently rode 30 miles as an ambassador for Against Breast Cancer, a UK-based charity that funds breast cancer research. Although it wasn’t a race, it’s believed that Michael completed the ride through Oxforshire’s countryside in record time, without breaking a sweat, while raising over 1,500 Pounds for Against Breast Cancer. If you’d like to add to the funds he raised, click on here: www.justgiving.com/mrmichaelross.

Polizei 144B vs Car Thieves! Pyrrhic Victory Ensues.

Polizei M5 144B was attacked by New York’s infamously skilled car thieves last night whilst briefly parked on the street. Yes. I’m an idiot, but I’ve parked 144A and B - fully stickered - on numerous streets in dozens of countries throughout the world, and never had a problem.

144B won, of course, surviving with only a broken passenger window, a well-abused yet-still-functional ignition cylinder, and the loss of but two of its four Garmin GPS units.

Given the surreal deterrent effect our Polizei livery has had on both law enforcement and civilians in the past, I’ve been grappling with the psychology of these particular thieves. The questions:

Alex Roy & Team Polizei To Lead Club Bimmer.com’s World Record BMW Parade April 5th@Road Atlanta

On Saturday, April 5th, ClubBimmer.com will attempt to break the record for the most BMW’s in one parade by traveling from the Chateau Elan Winery in Braselton, GA to Road Atlanta Raceway seven miles down the road. Alex will be leading the parade with 144B and also counting cars. After the parade, all are invited to 4ngiefest in Stone Mountain, near Atlanta, GA. 4ngiefest is a charity event that will raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

And the night before that, Alex & Team Polizei will be hosting a book tour gathering for "The Driver" at the Intercontinental Hotel in Atlanta (Buckhead) from 7:30-10 and then Team Polizei will head to the Arch Bar in Athens, GA, for more socializing.  See these Facebook postings for more info. Sick in Bed. No Moth for me tonight.

Ah, "The Driver" book tour…

Four weeks of high-speed/non-stop touring, lack of sleep, beef jerky and a leaky M5 fuel cell have put me in bed…possibly with bronchitis. As a result, I won’t be speaking at The Moth in New York City tonight. My apologies to everyone planning to go, but I assure you - since I’ve heard the other speakers before - that the rest of the show is incredible. If anything, the other speakers’ stories may be more compelling than mine (although not as fast paced!)

The Moth has offered to slot me in early in 2008, and I promise to overdeliver once given the chance. Thanks for your understanding, guys…

If You Can Afford A Sports Car…

…then you can afford to be generous. The Rady Children’s Hospital was the penultimate checkpoint on the 2007 Players Run, and, as Team Polizei’s Jon "9" Goodrich pointed out in his event wrap-up, several participants really pulled out the stops. Kudos to Rob Rill & Team Darkcyde.

So before you buy those new rims, make a contribution to your karmic balance sheet.

Kudos to Marcus from Players Run for making this part of the event. Every such event shoud.

Players Run 2007 - Final Update - LA to San Diego

Ashley, 9 and Dustin from Mischief.tv, and whose haircut requires an explanation…

Multiple final updates from Des @ GT Spirit (check out his frequently updated photo gallery and forums), the Players Run Official Blog, After Dark 360, and Team Polizei’s very own Piloten Jon Goodrich, vacationing with Ashley Van Dyke on this year’s Players Run, who ends his wrap-up with a very personal thanks to those who helped him. Before the jump, I’d like to thank Marcus - organizer of the Players Run, Carbon McCoy from eCirkit, and Bret Haller from The Unlimited Class, who were kind enough to invite Team Polizei and took such good care of my old friend 9…

Gumball Crash Driver Exclusive Interview Coming…

…courtesy of his hometown paper - Nick Morley’s first interview since being released by the Macedonian authorities and returning to the UK. I’m quite curious to learn more about the case, and hope he will release show (or at least discuss) more of the evidence and court documents than what little we’ve seen.

Macedonian Double Jeopardy? Prosecution Appeals Gumball Crash Driver’s Suspended Sentence

As I predicted, Gumballer Nick Morley’s 4-year suspended sentence would not spell the end of this tragic story, nor would Friday’s verdict clarify what actually happened on May 2nd, 2007.

The outcome, however surreal, appeared to satisfy both the political need for a conviction and the defense’s contention of innocence, however, no one could have predicted that the announcement by an absent third-party may have played a potentially damaging role in the 11th hour…
