College Student Makes An Ariel Atom In His Garage

He calls himself, Proximacentuari, and he did this by hand. Using a CAD model of a real Ariel Atom frame, the tubes were shaped for him by a local Utah fabricator but he did all the welding and sourced all the parts, many of which came from junk. The stainless-steel panels came from old appliances. There are also parts of a kayak in there. The engine, trans and instrument cluster come from a wrecked Acura RSX and the rear suspension uses shocks from a Yamaha R1. He also re-designed and made some parts to fit his parameters. It took him 800 hours and he finished it just before going to college. Here’s his Flickr page for a full set of photos. (Source: Motorcities.com)

Night Vision. For Tough Guys. By Tough Guys.

Night vision, the old school way. These guys make Team Polizei look pretty weak. Cory and Adam have the whole story over at the official 32 Hours 7 Minutes blog

The iPhoneaMometer. I Mean iMeter. I Mean Dynolicious.

What’s Dynolicious? Thank Gary Grant @ The Garage Blog for letting us know.

The 3G iPhone’s CeoC just jumped to 1.0. A full 1.0. Even though my primary phone is a Blackberry, I love my two old-school iPhones. Don’t ask me why I have two. Just know that I love them. Yes, the keyboards suck while driving, and yes, they lack copy and paste, search and GPS, but I love them because they’re…oh, whatever. I’m just a Mac guy, and even though mine can’t run Dynolicious the way the 3G iPhones can, well, now I’ve got a reason to upgrade to the 3G hardware.

Dynolicious is any serious driver’s dream - a G-meter/performance measurement app that uses the 3G iPhone’s accelerometer to supply you your (and your car’s) performance data…the same data previously only available through various aftermarket single-purpose devices cost $99-500. According to the developer, the app will be downloadable via the Apple’s App Store in July, which means it should already be there…even though it isn’t. Whether you should buy a 3G iPhone just to use this…that’s up to you…

Thanks, Gary.

The End of London Congestions Charges?

Now here’s a politician whose motives and character are utterly transparent. Behold! Boris Johnson…London’s new mayor, and an opponent of the congestion charges that nearly brought Porsche and Boris’ predecessor Ken LIvingstone to legal blows.

New Team Polizei Pursuit Vehicle In Testing!

Yes, Team Polizei is road testing an all-new Pursuit vehicle - heretofore designated 144H - not be confused with 144A through G, which are Interceptor vehicles, or 144R, which is a Race vehicle.

Anyone want to guess the year and model BMW in which the powerplant above resides?

Hint? Shark. Nose. Cool. Best BMW Coupe. Ever. M.
