Rory Camangian - formerly of Spike TV, a three-time(?) Bullrun veteran, former co-pilot of Fast Lane Daily’s Emil Rensing, an automotive industry man-about in New York & LA, and a man who also appears in my book at a critical moment, has written quite a thoughtful and unbiased review of "The Driver" based on his far-superior-to-major-media knowledge of the history of cross country racing.
Now if only he had mention Cory Welles‘ upcoming documentary on the topic, "32 Hours 7 Minutes" just once. Just once.

I’d love to know what the actual German Polizei think of this. Team Polizei’s use of the beloved word "Polizei" has strangely led to some Google search rankings that must baffle German citizens trying to track down the official Polizei web site.

Amazing. I’ve…er…made it into Wikipedia. LOL. I recall someone creating a Wiki page for me a few years ago, but Wikipedia’s ever watchful volunteers deemed me - as per their necessary but occasionally arbitrary policy - "not sufficiently noteworthy" at the time.
They were probably right, at least according to my mom.

In what must be the highest honor bestowed upon me since my mom delivered me unto this world, I was invited to speak yesterday at one of the most exclusive of auto industry insider events: The Madison Avenue Sports Car Driving & Chowder Society. Founder Bruce Wennerstrom (also of the Greenwich Concours D’Elegance) and his charming wife Genia somehow kept the traditional bread roll tossing to a minimum.
Given that prior speakers have included Edsel Ford, Roger Penske, Danny Panoz, Brian Redman, Phil Hill, Steve Saleen and Cannonball Run Founder Brock Yates himself(!), I was flattered not only to be invited to discuss my upcoming book "The Driver", but to have been egged on way past the ten minutes allotted me.
Apparently they weren’t satisfied with my best of Gumball 3000 & Bullrun slideshow. They wanted video, so I showed them a few seconds of Team Polizei’s most infamous work. Then they wanted more, and they asked for the full gig. All nine minutes. So I gave it to them…

I’ve received a lot of e-mail from friends in the UK regarding the shipping cost of ordering The Driver from the US Amazon site, but Amazon UK has conveniently put up a page for the European English-language edition, which will be far more economical. As soon as other UK retailers make it available, I will add the appropriate links.
I heard a rumor from Random House/Ebury Press that the UK edition would ship on or about January 1st, but Amazon UK lists the release date as November 1st, so anything is possible. You’ll find out as soon as I do.
My European book tour will tentatively begin in the UK in early January, then head to the continent.
I look forward to seeing everyone…and showing off Team Polizei’s all-new secret interceptor…
