A little taste of just one of the projects we’ve been working on. A small piece. Just wait. Check out Seero.com while you’re trying to figure it out. Johnson’s involved. And a few others. Just a couple.

Here it is. Above? The World’s Most Infamous Google kml map file, exported from Earth into Maps. (WARNING - you MUST download Google Earth in order to view the .kml file!) Entitled "Infographic & Validation (V.9)" - this is the same .kml we and Wired.com posted in October 2007 when "The Driver" was released, and shows various milestones our 31:04 Cross Country Run. Enjoy this…just a little tiny taste of what’s coming soon. Very soon, and I’m not merely talking about "32 Hours 7 Minutes"…
A little bird in London just informed Polizei HQ that "The Driver" has been selected as Top Gear Magazine’s May Book of the Month.
No higher honor have I ever been paid, but I won’t beleive it until I hold a copy, or at least a scan. If true, I’ve an old friend (and former Gumballer) to thank, but we’ll save his identity for the verification post.
I can’t find it anywhere in NYC. Anyone in the UK have the May issue and a scanner?
-for the next few days, as Team Polizei HQ is moving - starting today - to the South Concourse of the Javitz Center for the 2008 New York International Auto Show. Public days start on Friday, but we’re setting up ASAP for Wednesday and Thursday’s press days, so if you’re coming down at any point, we’ll be waiting for you next to the blue BMW M5. Yes, that’ll be 144B. Any phone, e-mail or community messages are unlikely to be answered quickly until the show ends on the 30th, so please be patient, or come see us in person. Details to follow…

I’ve long tried to answer each and every question-packed e-mail sent to me, but four-and-a-half-months since "The Driver" was released in the US, I’m still hundreds of responses behind. So…finally…I’ve published the FAQ’s I should have posted months ago. They cover the most common questions I can no longer answer individually, and there are still more I’m going to post and answer in the coming weeks.
Anything missing? You know where to reach me…
The UK’s Finest News Source* - also known as the Daily Sport - published the first of seven excerpts from "The Driver" today, obviously targeted at the very same readership I had in mind when I wrote the book…and that I belong to :-). I have to say I’m also a big fan of the liquor ad on the left side of my full page spread. If you have to ask (and you’re NOT at work) please click through for The Daily Sport’s homepage. Jalopnik reports that Adam Carolla, with whom I had the pleasure of photographed after he and Danny Bonaduce interviewed me about "The Driver" on Adam’s radio show, will be hosting the American edition of Top Gear on NBC. Read on…
I was a guest last night on CBC’s "The Hour", a late-night Canadian talk show hosted by former DJ/VJ George Stroumboulopoulos. About 50% less political and 80% less scripted than The Daily Show, I wish it aired south of the border, and not just because I was given free reign all day to shoot the most free-wheeling, un-censored series of interviews in Team Polizei history. The best part is, I completely forgot to mention the name of my book or Cory Welles’ movie. The main interview with George aired live last night, and the others - including my un-planned, un-scripted, un-rehearsed nine minute riff on Rendezvous - should go up on their official site within a day or two. (I sure hope my jet lag, quad-shot coffee and cold weren’t too obvious.)
For now, IE, Firefox or Safari users can watch the main interview here. Use Camino and/or Facebook? Click here.

Given the story above, this past weekend’s tragic Ocala M5 accident and various remarks sent my way since the 31:04 NY-LA Run, it’s been hard to keep a silent, straight face when it comes to road safety…then I read The Truth About Cars’ piece linked above.
I love TTAC. Jalopnik is snarky. Autoblog is newsy. But TTAC editorializes on serious topics without irony, and sometimes hits home so honestly, so clearly, that the logic of an argument can only be made clear by staring at pictures like those above, reading the story behind it, then starting at the picture once again.
As I did, after which I returned to ponder TTAC’s editorial on safety:

TTAC is pointing the way toward some terrible truths many have yet to face, but first, the short version of their story…
