The Polizei M5 144B has completed its break-in run, arriving this morning with Alex Roy behind the wheel in beautiful Los Angeles. After a day of rest, Alex and crew will begin the west coast book tour, making the first stop at the L.A. Auto Show.
2:08 p.m. GMT
1,196 miles into the trip.
254 miles from Oklahoma City.
Co-piloten David Maher has assumed 80% capacity in evaulation duty testing Polizei 144B, whilst Kommandant Roy had retired to the rear cabin for a brief nap. Upon awakening, Roy and Maher discussed (in animated tones and exact language) the implications of a story reported yesterday on CNN which detailed a startling figure: around 18% of licensed American drivers have proven unable to pass their license renewal exams.
Roy and Maher look forward to celebrating the Oklahoma City Centennial weekend upon arrival in the capitol of this great state.
It gives me great pleasure to reveal 144B: A 2000 BMW E39 M5. That is correct; 144B is the twin of 144A with only one slight difference, an entirely black interior instead of the black and gray interior found on the original 144A.
Many of you have commented it would be impossible to find a better car to replace the E39 M5. Team Polizei agreed; that is why instead of replacing it, we just got an identical car. For the past two months, Ai Design has taken 144B and modified it to be an exact replica of 144A. The only difference between the two cars is that 144B has a few technology and equipment modifications; all of which will be discussed in depth within the coming week.
The car is in perfect condition with roughly 30,000 miles. That was as of 11:00pm EST tonight. For the next few days, the car is being "broken in". For security reasons, I cannot disclose what this "break-In" drive consists of, nor can I disclose what the car’s exact journey will be. All I can say is that David Maher and Alex Roy are both back behind the wheel and they are heading west. As of 11:30pm EST, they were in western New Jersey. The journey will take them approximately three days and they will end up on the west coast.
It is important to remember that this is NOT a “record” breaking drive. Alex and Maher will be stopping along the route. This is merely a transport and test drive.

Jon9 with an update from the 2007 Players Run:
After arriving first to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway yesterday, we
went to the Wynn, checked in and returned to the Speedway for the
Mario Andretti Indy Experience. Was truly unique in that we got to
drive a real indy car at speed on a perfectly banked NASCAR oval.
Ashley pushed her instructor to almost 150 MPH in the six laps she
turned and we both agreed that it was an experience we would not
soon forget.

0710HR Mountain Time - Update #2 9/12/2007
Unfortunately, no Vantage in Calgary. As of 7AM, we are still not
sure if the car has arrived at the border town in Montana. We found
out late last night that the trucking companies last update said the
car would arrive ‘at the latest’ by 11AM on Wednesday.
Plan is to do the breakfast and drivers meeting, then hop in a Tahoe
to get a ride to the border. There will be a car line-up in front of
the hotel at ~9:30AM and a police escort out of town shortly thereafter.
It’s 45 degrees, raining and cold here this morning and we feel
particularly bad for the guys in the 427 Shelby. Guessing it will be
an adventure for most with 20" inch summers in the cold Canadian
rain. For us it looks like our canadian leg will be spent in the
back of an American SUV.
Will text updates when we get to the border. Expect that to be
around 1PM Mountain.
