VIDEO: Alex Roy @ Google - The Technology, Business Model & Secrets Behind A 21st Century Cannonball Run

Want to break the 31:04 cross country record? You’ll need an hour to watch this - my recent talk @ Google’s New York HQ, where for the first time in public I discuss and display Team Polizei’s heretofore totally secret 2-year plan for assaulting the 1983 32 hour 7 minute record. If you’ve been waiting to see our Herculean Google Earth map analysis of speed traps and the electronic countermeasure suite described in "The Driver", you might even love this as much as my new friends at the Food & Beverage Institute down in Quantico, Virginia…where I gave a private talk about details that still haven’t seen the light of day. (Never heard of the Institute? HINT: They love cars. And tech.)

Watch my FULL ONE HOUR Google talk AND check out the most shocking Polizei M5 sighting of all time…after the jump:

FYI - If you feel like skipping the video’s Gumball-centric intro, the hardcore 31:04/32:07 discussion begins around 12:00.

A huge thanks to Google’s Cameron Carling (above) and Daryll Henrich, who made it all possible.

As for how the following picture came to be…you’ll just have to wait. But yes. It’s real.

Absolutely fascinating. The lessons from this talk on planning, performance, analysis, evaluation, etc. have so many applications. Thank you, Alex, for making this available! Hope you had a blast at Quantico.

It’s fascinating to see these very educated, very civilized people
watching respectfully video evidences of a man breaking the law
about 3 billion times (as well as shortening his contemporaries’
life expectancy by a colossal magnitude).

What I mean here is that after the TV shows and other semi-official
honors, this reflects how much this run is an american symbol. Not
just because it is close history, but mostly because it is the
primal root of one nation’s history.
