The boys at Forbes sure love doing the homework for us.
Don’t go to Virginia. Trust me. If you don’t, read this, or this, or maybe this.

I have family in Virginia, and what I heard from them was that the hyperexpensive tickets only apply to the residents of the state, not to everyone.
But it still sucks, any way you look at it.
I’m not a lawyer but I have a feeling it’s imposed to residents only to try and keep it out of federal court where it would be shot down as it’s unconstitutional according to the VIII Amendment “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.” but who knows? little things like the constitution haven’t stood in their way lately. specifically that amendment
The super tax for Virginia speeders does suck, and the no radar/laser detectors law also sucks. Virginia however (especially in the south) has a fantastic network of largely unpoliced back roads. I’ve never known a place like it, I often have a huge smile on my face when returning to work after doing 140mph on my way to and for lunch………..Fantastic.

I think its totally nuts that you can get jail time for speeding, totally nuts. Why not give them a good ticket and if its extreme, then the drive could loose the drivers license for a Month, instead of ruin a mans life and family with Jail time, this way the states get a little cash instead of offering a Hotel for a little time pay by tax money.
I’ve learned so much from this blog. Hopefully others can find value in my site as well.
