I have to disagree about Japanese cars though. There are some really good, performant and safe Acuras, Infinities, Lexus, ect. out there. Way safer than an Avalanche. Yet some people speed safely in those (ei. Rawlings). In the end, being a good driver is all about knowing your limit and your car's limit. This guy was abviously way past. As for the passengers, it doesn't say they were kidnapped, so chances are (I could be wrong) they had a choice of being in that fast moving vehicle or not.
