YES!…SOMEONE PASS A LAW OR SOMETHING TO MAKE EVERYONE TAKE THE DAMN TEST AGAIN…THE TEST HAS GOT TO BE EVEN MORE STRICT…I HAD A HARDER TIME CONNECTING THE DOTS ON THE MCDONALD’S ACTIVITIES SHEET THAT COMES WITH THE HAPPY MEALS…
what’s even more sad and makes me even more just in asking people to take the test again is…NEW YORK ranked 51!!!… -_- how the hell do you rank 51 in a country with only 50 states…why is 49 & 50 missing…
They included the District of Columbia in the study, that’s how we got to be 51
Weird… DC technically isn’t even a state. But yeah, Times Square has got to be one of the worst places to drive ever. An accident could happen so easily there it is a wonder that Mr Roy hasn’t crashed the Interceptor yet.
I just got 75% on the test at http://www.gmacinsurance.com.. That’s not too bad as I have never been to America!!
And if that is a real test no woner people are bad at driveing.. This is one of the questions
“When you tailgate other drivers (drive close to their rear bumper)”
1)You can frustrate the other drivers and make them angry
2)Your actions cannot result in a traffic citation
3)You help reduce traffic congestion
Nothing about it being stupidly dangerous!!
In this case, I’m not sure if it’s bad drivers or bad test writers.
The questions are pretty simple; anyone on the road in the states should be embarrassed to miss more than two questions. Given that, I could of written a better test in my sleep. Describing a yellow traffic signal instead of displaying a picture of one? Not so good. At least when I was in drivers ed, they taught us to recognize the visual representation of traffic control lights and signs; not their technical descriptions.
Personally I think driver distraction is a bigger problem. Nothing worse than seeing an SUV with the kids watching TV and the driver on their cell. Who’s watching the road, the dog?!?
hmmm…i´m from Germany… i think it´s easy to get a driving licence in the USA.
this test is a joke?
Many would agree the driving test in the UK is old fashioned and out of date; it usually takes a driver anywhere between 40-70 hours of driving lessons to pass. Having done the test in the US as well, probably used the skills I’d learned in the first 2-3 hours of driving lessons, no reversing, no parallel parking, not interested if I was using the mirrors, and the test lasted about 7 minutes.
I dont think this makes good motorists.
People in the UK say the drivers test there is inadequate, but it’s an order of magnitude better than the US test. My UK license took 30 hours of lessons and two attempts at the test to obtain. My US license was 20 questions and once around the block. (The sad thing about that experience was the people taking the test asking me the answers to the questions) Admittedly, I had 15 years of driving history to master the task of piloting a motorized carriage, but the actual driving exam only covered making right turns and pulling into a parking space; this was the same test that the sixteen year olds were being put through.
Don’t get me started about Kansas drivers… nothing like two cars driving side by side at 25mph because the temperature is hovering around freezing, blocking both lanes of a *bone dry* state highway where traffic usually flows at 70mph .
You may think this is somewhat unorthodox, but this is the latest piece of evidence bolstering my theory that government should not issue driving licenses at all. It is clearly incapable of doing so in any meaningful way. To put it another way, road safety is too important to leave to government bureaucrats.
I think we’d have a much better system, and safer drivers, if insurance companies tested drivers instead, coupled with strict liability for accidents. No weaseling out of your responsibility just because you don’t have insurance.
Seeing other drivers going uphill on a clear road and breaking is one of my favorites, very entertaining if Im not in a rush to get somewhere.
