Hey Alex, after some time I read here again and what do I see???? A new interceptor? It’s difficult to guessbut I think it’ll be a new M5, but on the otherhand this would be to obvious so I think a Mercedes AMG …
I hate to bust your bubble kids, and I’m sorry to ruin your party, but I happen to know that the new Interceptor 144B is actually a gray-market Skoda Superb. Don’t worry. The electronics make up for it. Seriously, though, Alex, if you really wanted to go Czech, shouldn’t you have picked up a Tatra?
Hmmm I have no clue as to what it is but I hope it’s not something odd…. Picture Alex in the Perfectly Purple Polizei Prius! scary…. Can’t wait to see though!
He’s already made it apparent that the E39 M5 is his choice for best M5 (and he’s right), so why would he replace it with another one?
I’m going with Audi. I’m almost willing to put moneys on it.
Or maybe he’s going to start doing rallys on a police-issue Harley? Get a little sidecar for Mr. Ross? V1 motorcycle unit? I can see it being a huge hit!
One could guess if the little B after 144 is a hint of somekind, or if i am just a stupid s.o.b. that don’t get the meaning of the b. Or maybe just a typo. I would guess that is a larger car, hence the earlier ones that they have driven. M5, CL and the Bentley is not a small one either. Therefore I don’t belive it will be a S5. Something that probably have 4 seats, even if the rear ones are quite useless. Will be fun to see what they have chosen!
In my opinion, it would be smartest if 144B were an almost-identical E39 M5, that way if 144A broke down or blew a tire on a rally, it would be a nearly seamless transition to the second car, and most people wouldn’t even notice.
Hope its the new RS6 best car in its class atm. Could be a 63 AMG too but it would be bad to change from a nice brand like BMW to something less as a merc
I still like the V8 powered cars the most but for a twinturbo V10 I can forgive herr roy!
DBR9? Where were you in 2006 and -7?
E63 AMG came already up for a looooong time..
I’d put my money on the al new Audi RS6 by the way..
I saw someone writing that they might need a bit more space.
Well, the new RS6 will only be available as an Avant,
so that wo’nt be a problem. And with 579HP he will
beat a 507HP BMW M5 Touring EASILY.
And by the way, it’s October 16th today,
haven’t they made it public yet?
Cause this article has been published on October 8th,
and Alex says that we would know a week from then.
So that would be yesterday.
@Erio:
”does anyone knwo if you can (pre)order ‘the Driver’ in Holland?”
What do you mean with that?
I’m from Holland so maybe i can answer your question.
I can’t take it anymore! I realise that everyone is getting carried away with the excitement of 32 Hours and 7 Minutes, but I’ve been checking back here multiple times a day for the last 9 days now.. When will there be news?!
It probably won’t be a Mercedes because they’re only available in automatic transmission. Alex has stated before that he strongly prefers manual.
I’m not so sure about an Audi either because he had an Audi S4 before the M5 and questioned Audi’s reliability in an endurance rally environment. His S4 blew an engine or a turbo or something.
The Porsche Carerra does not have enough passanger space. Not enough storage for long events. I own one (997S) and love driving it but would not want to spend a full week in it.
An E90 M3 is also too small and probably unstable at 150 .
My pick would be the E60 M5 with manual transmission. By now there should be a lot of modifications available.
Well… it’s really taking quite a while for the car to be released…
I don’t think an M3 will be an unstable car at 150… but the choice might be to easy. Now the most predictable choices of car have been made, I place my bets on a new volvo S80 V8 quite a volvo fan myself, and the S80 is stable enough and quite big. With a little help from heico it can be fast too.
I meant 150 plus… my plus symbol didn’t show up in my post. An unrestricted M3 is much less stable at speeds over 150 mph than an M5. The M3 is lighter and will suffer from front-end lift at such speeds.
I think a Mercury Marauder would be sweet for competitions. Throw on a push bar and side spots, a twin-screw supercharger, a T-56, and it’d be ready for business.
Who knows Wolfgang… I guess we will have to wait another days at least, maybe a couple of weeks hence to the book tour. My guess is that it will be revealed when the book tour is done and things starts to cool down abit. No disrespect, but I hope it will be soon :]
hope it is an alfa romeo
btw. does anyone knwo if you can (pre)order ‘the Driver’ in Holland?
I am asking myself the same question…
My guess for the new Interceptor will be a S5!

I’d by an Audi….but a 4 or a 6 with RS in front!?!
Look forward to finding out any how.
* opps ‘buy’
If Alex managed to import a Skoda to the US, being a non-approved car, I want to know how he did it, so I can import one too
Team Polizei’s new interceptor needs some German registration plates for extra Polizei authenticity.
I think it is an M5 Touring. More space, same speed and reliability. Whatever it is, Alex will make it great.
damn i hate surprices
Whatever it is, you can bet it won’t be standard spec.
I think I know that it isn’t a new M5!!!
But I unfortunately don’t know what other car it is!!!(Hopefully an Audi RS4 or S5!!
you know what, i was thinking something along the lines of a Helicopter or mini plane
hmm…we shall see
CANT WAIT!
Hmmm I have no clue as to what it is but I hope it’s not something odd…. Picture Alex in the Perfectly Purple Polizei Prius! scary…. Can’t wait to see though!

Hopefully an M5. Team Polizei wouldn’t be quite the same without an M5.

I think it’s going to be a Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series.
@ Jim: Skodas are not approved in the US? Why’s that? ^^
Just found this

Audi R8?
http://www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/1149/
I’d like to see an M5 Estate as the B choice, it would just make sense
A Mercedes E55AMG would be cool. Must of taken a lot of preparation for this new car, Its going to be really cool as all Interceptors are.

@C: That’s just silly. He’s not gonna drive a 2-seater…
The perfect interceptor is already made. already stickerd, enough power, just put some electronics in it. http://www.gtspirit.com/uploads/images/techartpolizei.jpg
still no news
Still no interceptor revealed :/ What’s going on, ey?
ALEX ROY RESPONDS: Any day now….it’s just all the craziness around our 31:04 news has delayed everything else by a few days! best,
Alex

Maybe its the Ashton Martin that was used by Nine in the Players Run 2007?
