I’m genuinely amazed. On the other hand, the pictures don’t suggest a high-speed accident, at least to my eyes. Interesting.
I can’t wait to to learn the details of the Macedonian Police accident report. Whatever transpired today - the first day of Nick Morley’s trial for the deaths of Vladimir and Margarita Cepuljoski - the facts of the case have yet to come to light.
IF Morley is declared partially (or completely) at fault AND the trial is seen to have been fair…it will confirm everyone’s worst fears about the inevitability of a fatal crash on the Gumball, for reasons that have already been hashed out innumerable times in recent weeks.
If Morley is declared innocent, which will ONLY pass muster in the current Macedonian political climate IF he is vindicated by the police report, then this headline will look as biased as it is.
Right or wrong, the majority of press has focused on the inevitability of the accident, buttressed by the overwhelming suggestion that Morley - because he drove a Porsche, has money and wore Gumball livery - HAD to be guilty.
Whatever the outcome Monday, it should be remembered that two people died, and that should give every reasoning human being pause enough to put aside their political views, even if only for the time being. No one should gloat over the outcome Monday, whether or not it confirms expectations of Morley’s guilt, or hopes for his innocence.
Everyone - the Cepuljoskis, Nick Morley, the Gumball organization, the drivers, fans and even its critics - would best be served by the truth coming to light. Alas, the press has done little to nothing to investigate the facts of this tragedy, and much to harm a reasoned discussion over the ramifications of the tragedy.
UPDATE - The link to the original local news video about the accident.

I wish Nick Morley a fair court verdict on Monday, and I hope the Police had access to good equipment, while they were assessing the conditions of this crash.
Jim.
to forgive is a good thing but to let a murder in freedom is not a goon thing…
Won’t the video recording system fitted to all the gumball cars provide enough evidence as to who is to blame?
If Mr. Morley is guilty for this accident he will have this in his head forever and that if he was forgiven or not. It’s a nice offer of the family to do this.
But off course, as all people I’m still curious about what happened.
