"We’re very well aware of it and we’ll be monitoring what’s going on."
That’s what one California Highway Patrol spokesperson told the LA Times…and yet Day 1 of the 2008 Gumball 3000 - which ran from San Francisco to Buttonwillow Raceway Park to Hollywood, CA - ended last night with what appears to be one of the slowest, lowest-ticketed grids in Gumball 3000 (if not modern "rally") history…at least according to our friends and allies actually on it.

Gumball is dead without Teams like Team Polizei, Rawlings, Torquenstein…
I ate lunch with the gumballers in rancho santa fe (met the arbuckle team there, seemed like really nice guys) and then ran with two of the cars (Ferrari F430 and Aston Vantage) to Qualcomm. Im not sure if it was because we were some of the lead cars or not, but there was only ONE CHP car on the 5, and the 5 was (i think) the only way to get to qualcomm.
We made some time getting to qualcomm, and i dont think anybody got pulled. It was kind of funny, because the portion of the freeway we ran on NORMALLY has a ton of CHP, and the day of the gumball, none of them were there.
