It’s hard to believe, but true. "The Driver" has been Amazon’s #1 book in the Racing and Motorsports categories since coming out nearly two weeks ago, (The reviews have been really good…;-) Why doesn’t B&N break out in-category sales rankings this precisely?)
But…the far more flattering surprise has been being #5 among Sports Biographies…a far more competitive field of battle. I’ve seen "The Driver" fluctuate among the latter - as high as #2 and as low as #11 - all of which is extraordinarily gratifying given some of the other books in the Top 10. Jon Krakauer and Lance Armstrong…pretty good company. Ironically, I saw Armstrong - perhaps as tenacious an athelete as Alex Zanardi - finish the New York City Marathon today. I doubt I’ll ever be quite that fit. After 31:04, the current book tour and the upcoming 32:07 film tour, I may become a NYC public school teacher. Seriously. I’d like to teach English. Or History. 20th Century. Really. If they won’t have me, I wonder if they’d accept me as a pro-bono driving instructor.
Now that would be funny.
Thanks to everyone who’s purchased and supported "The Driver" so far. I’ll start naming names and sending out something better than the usual tchotchkes once the first leg of the tour is over in December, right before the second U.S. leg begins…

Congrats man,
I got my copy today that I originally ordered from Amazon, so now I have two copies. I might hold on to it.
Good news there with the sales - fingers crossed for yet another print run. And I hope your career choice pans out as you want too.
Surprised? Not me lol
(you know the zoomed one of the M5)
Nice photo in the book too
WOW! History O_O
Congrats. Maybe you should be in the history books of the future because you are certainly making history.
I got mine from Amazon as well. Alex you should sell the book on the polizei site as well, and you also sell autographed copies too(which is something I would have definately gotten). Oh yea, great book by the way haha.
I had to order mine from Amazon USA even though I live in Canada. Ordering from Amazon Canada would have take over a month to ship.
I got mine within a few days from Amazon USA
I had a chance to experience Bullrun recently, man it was great!
Forget working for NYC. Start your own driving school.
