Cute girls tied up! Needles! Truth serums! Gangsters! BMWs!

Team Polizei Wallpaper of the Day #12 is from the start of our very first rally…literally…it was taken in the first ten seconds after our leap off the Start Line of the 2003 Gumball 3000 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. Our trusty Valentine 1 Radar Detector is visible on the top left, our now-retired Uniden BC795 Radio Scanner is on our BMW M5’s dashtop, and one of our roof-mounted police light’s power cables is dangllng down through the sunroof.

Ebury Press, a division of Random House, has acquired the UK rights to The Driver, and, according to strong rumors, my book will be released there on or about the new year, which means my I - and the Polizei M5 - will begin touring Europe within the first week of January 2008. Starting in London, I intend to drive point-to-point, reading-to-reading, event-to-event, throughout the UK before heading down to the continent. The US tour will run from late October to December, then resume when I return from Europe.
The UK edition will sport a different cover from the American edition, yet although I’ve seen several awesome concepts, I’m not yet at liberty to post them. If Ebury agrees, I’ll throw up a few different versions on Monday. I’m curious to see what you think…
A nice little video - mercifully free of stupid background music - showing what BMW’s factory night vision camera display looks like. I don’t use this, of course, as the Team Polizei E39 M5 was designed nearly 10 years ago, manufactured 8 years ago and purchased by the team merely 5 years ago - before such systems became available, let alone affordable…

Just watch it. I can’t wait for Quashqai’s countermove. If anyone knows more about what’s actually going on here, please contact me immediately.
I actually liked Bullrun on Spike, and, despite wretched reviews in the mainstream press, I wasn’t alone in thinking this was better than almost every other car-related show in recent memory - especially Fox’s steaming-pile-otherwise-known-as-Drive.
Sadly - and this has been strangely overlooked in pretty much every media outlet except the wrestling press - Bullrun on Spike was cancelled. If you want more Bullrun, whether on Spike or elsewhere, one hardy fan has set up this online petition to find them a home.
I’ve restored 99% of the images lost, reposted the wallpapers and fixed most of the category and archive issues, although some remain. Rather than rewrite the missing posts from scratch, I’m going to return to blogging new stories…unless someone absolutely has to see something they recall reading or watching before this disaster. In any case, I’m going to daiy manual backups, as my ISP can’t be relied upon - sadly - to backup more than once a week.
Thanks to everyone who’s emailed me with suggestions, and please let me know if you come across any other issues.
Best,
Team Polizei Wallpaper of the Day #11 shows my last minute adjustments to the jury-rig of the Polizei electronics suite to Michael Ross’s Bentley GT at the London start line of the 2006 Gumball 3000.
Team Polizei Wallpaper of the Day #10 shows the interior of Master Pilot Michael Ross’s Bentley GT at the start of the 2006 Gumball 3000. This is what happens when one has only 24 hours to jury rig the Polizei electronics suite…in the absence of our beloved Polizei M5…
Team Polizei Wallpaper of the Day #9 depicts our departure from the London Start Line on the 2006 Gumball 3000. Jodie Kidd dropped the flag, Master Pilot Michael Ross was at the helm, and I desperate fought to keep our jury-rigged equipment from flying off the dash of his Bentley GT.
